17-05-2021 Viognier leaves no one cold. Every wine person has an opinion about it and it varies from exotic and exciting to exaggerated and banal. All the more reason to give this extravagant grape the starring role in our Winelife tasting. Of the 64 Viogniers, Rice & top sommelier Koen van der Plas found these to be the 21 highly recommended.

Van der Plas says as the idea for SAAM grew, they decided to involve Margot Janse, "the famous Dutch chef who was the head chef at The Tasting Room in Franschhoek for over 20 years." It was thanks to Janse, now a shareholder in SAAM, that The Tasting Room became a regular fixture in the top 10 of The World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
